In the heart of the first selector, there is always their own "History of Modern Chinese Literature", which can be interpreted, discussed, debated, and even irreconcilable depending on different opinions. In fact, perhaps it is precisely because of the frequent selection of experts and diverse perspectives that readers are given the opportunity to make judgments, choices, and ultimately form their own independent opinions. Therefore, I believe that one should never boast about how superior this book series is to others. However, due to some advantages of the Chinese Modern Literature Museum itself and some characteristics of the book selection process, I believe that the "100 Masters of Chinese Modern Literature" series we have compiled this time still has the following strengths:
Firstly, the compiler has considerable authority. This series of books was directly compiled by the China Modern Literature Museum, which organized the most authoritative research experts in the country to participate in the compilation, thus ensuring the academic quality of this series.
Secondly, the largest scale. This series is currently the largest collection of modern Chinese literary works in terms of variety. The 108 authors selected this time were all determined through repeated screening and analysis by experts and scholars. In addition to the mainstream writers we have always focused on in the past, they also took into account the works of many non mainstream writers who were previously overlooked but achieved high success and had their own unique characteristics. We believe that this is beneficial for readers to have a more objective and comprehensive understanding of modern Chinese literature.
Thirdly, the version is the most primitive. The selected works in this series are basically based on the first edition version of the work. As is well known, many well-known writers have made revisions to their representative works against their will during political movements. Restoring the original appearance of these representative works is the preservation of the original materials of literary history, which will provide powerful assistance for studying the thoughts and creative paths of writers.
Fourthly, the editing and proofreading are more rigorous. This series of books is published with a meticulous approach to both binding and textual editing, ensuring that the books delivered to readers are qualified and worthy of collection.
