Maupassant, a famous French naturalist novelist, is known as the "king of short stories in the world".
Born in France in 1850, he entered the Isfert Church School at the age of thirteen and began writing poetry. At the age of thirty, he became famous overnight for publishing the short story "Sheep Fat Ball" in Zuo La's edited "Mei Tang Night Talk" and immersed himself in writing ever since. Once under the tutelage of Flaubert, I was deeply influenced by him. Flaubert often said to Maupassant, "The so-called talent is to persistently work hard for a long time!" Maupassant lived up to the expectations of his teacher and created very diligently. In just ten years, he completed sixteen collections of short stories, six novels, three travelogues, one script, and many miscellaneous works, making him a very diligent writer. However, among all the works, short stories still have the highest achievement. Maupassant is skilled at extracting typical and meaningful fragments from ordinary and trivial things, and deeply depicting various intriguing human emotions and social situations.
