《人民政协制度功能变迁研究》由上海人民出版社出版。

本书是在复旦大学政治学博士后流动站的答辩论文《现代国家建设视野中的人民政协制度功能变迁研究》的基础上修改而成的。该文在答辩之后一直被我“束之高阁”，当时的想法是先沉淀一下。过了一段时间以后，觉得当初的一些想法和观点还是很有研究价值，有进一步深入探讨的必要，因此，出于敝帚自珍的考虑，决定尽快将论文修改成书。
以往关于人民政协制度的研究主要集中于两块：一块集中于对1954年以前政治协商会议的研究，一块集中于改革开放以后对人民政协具体工作和职能的阐述。前者主要是史学视野，后者主要是统战视野。后来有一种更新的研究倾向把协商民主理论用于研究人民政协，以我个人对协商民主的研究和了解，将协商民主理论用于指导人民政协事业发展，存在着某种误读和误导，并不利于人民政协制度的健康成长和长远发展。而迄今为止，把人民政协制度当作中国政治一项特有的制度安排和设计，对其进行政治学视野的整体研究和系统研究的专著尚付之阙如。无疑，在中国政治的现实版图中，人民政协制度越来越重要了，具有不可替代的重要作用，然而，从学术研究的角度，如何来理解这个越来越重要的作用和不可替代呢？在现代国家的发展方略中，人民政协制度的确切定位又应该是什么呢？这些问题既是本书选题的基本思考，也构成了研究的原初动力。随着思考和修改的深入，一些萦绕于心的问题，逐渐地有了越来越清楚的答案。对我而言，这更是一次学习和提高的过程。
