一、大师以笔作为修行的福田
从一九五三年第一本书《无声息的歌唱》，到二〇〇八年《人间佛教论文集》的出版，大师像辛勤的园丁，努力灌溉佛教文化的花园。大师从年轻时艺文的创作，中年佛经讲座的传播佛法，到晚年思想散发的恢宏精彩，从关怀现今人类所面临的生存、生活、生命等问题，乃至忧心升斗百姓的生计，令人感怀一代大师对世人的温柔。佛光山开山第一个完成建设的大悲殿，是大师撰文《释迦牟尼佛传》的版税所完成的。大师躬身力行“人生三百岁”的发光发热的生命哲学，如他所说的：从二〇〇〇年《人间福报》创刊来，他每天见报的专栏，没有给编辑操忧过，都存有半年以上的文稿，让编辑应付自裕，不会有“无米下锅”捉襟见肘的窘状。
二、是佛教文化飞扬的世纪
